Shah Abdullah Alamee

Alamee’s consummate skill as a miniature painter and calligrapher is apparent in this work of poignant beauty. Translucent calligraphic strokes in ink overlap and line up above each other with breath-taking precision. They gather together as a soft, breathing mass. A net of cracks covers them partially but their graceful forms emerge from it in a silent eulogy to Alamee’s homeland.
