- Description
Sacred Visits is a painting depicting a woman in the middle standing over a hill near her house, in front of a mountain in Afghanistan. The painting is developed in multiple layers of transfer and paints. In this painting, two different photographs from the same family were taken in two countries, one in Afghanistan and one in Pakistan, and layered together. It depicts a surreal vision of being together in one land. An almost dreamlike scene fantasizing about a moment of inseparability where it’s impossible to live it in real. An illustration to narrate a story from collective memories that have been experienced within families, and relatives in our community. The peacock and flowers are drawn from cultural motifs and embroidery practices, symbolizing resilience.
