Attiya Shaukat

This is a quietly telling miniature painting by Shaukat, in which the artist expertly uses a language of silence to hint at the deeply personal aspects of her work. An accident which left Shaukat paralysed from the waist down has been the catalyst for her moving and delicate works. Using parts of the human body linked to mobility and assorted mechanical devices, she has built up a visual vocabulary that is personal as well as universal.
