Jamal offers a candy-coloured, tongue-in-cheek commentary on patriarchy and on womanhood’s resilience in the face of it. With her distinct, uplifting colour palette, she portrays a wall of burka-clad women, ornamented by motifs of teardrops, eyes, and flowers. In front of these women stands a young girl, her tongue sticking out defiantly, her henna-covered palm raised proudly, her piercingly red heart beating loud and strong.
